The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September 2024 remained at 5.5%, the same level as in August, being 0.5 percentage points higher among men than among women, according to provisional data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) sent on Thursday.
The number of unemployed persons (aged 15-74) estimated for September 2024 was 450,900 persons, down from the previous month (452,300 persons), but also compared to the same period of the previous year (455,300 persons).
By gender, the unemployment rate for men was 0.5 percentage points higher than for women (5.7% for men and 5.2% for women).
„The high level of 23.2% unemployment rate among young people (15 – 24 years), recorded between April and June 2024, is still a reason of concern,” the INS points out.
For adults (25-74 years), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.4% for September 2024 (4.2% for women and 4.5% for men). The number of unemployed people aged 25-74 represents 75.7% of the total number of unemployed estimated for September 2024.
