Research minister Bogdan Ivan and Economy minister Stefan Radu Oprea, who visited the Elie Carafoli National Institute for Aerospace Research (INCAS) on Monday, said that solutions have been found for building a drone prototype that will be „a genuine product of Romanian specialists, from creation, design and production”.
„The Romanian drone project is moving forward! Today, together with the Minister of Economy,Stefan Radu Oprea, we went to INCAS – the Elie Carafoli National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development, which has been managing leading research projects in aerospace sciences in Romania for over 75 years. Together we have found solutions for the MCID and the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism to build a prototype for the Romanian drone, a genuine, integral product of Romanian specialists, from creation, design and production,” minister Ivan wrote on Facebook.
He pointed out that the construction of the drone will use optoelectronic devices designed by Romanians and innovative Romanian computer systems, „all generated by the brilliant minds of Romanian researchers”.
In his turn, the minister of Economy, Stefan Radu Oprea, said on the same social networking page that INCAS has already developed projects for drone systems.
„I have seen studies, prototypes, equipment and functional systems that give me the certainty that together with companies in the defence industry with private and state capital, with companies that are constantly innovating in the field of software, artificial intelligence, microelectronics or optoelectronics, the project for the industrialisation of Romanian drones can become a reality,” Oprea added.
