The Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that 800 kilometers of highway and expressway are currently under construction in Romania, drawing attention to the need for the Government to support the construction materials market, in the context of future infrastructure investments.
Minister Grindeanu paid a working visit on Friday, together with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, to the road investment objective of the A7 Highway, Buzau-Focsani Sector, Sections 1 and 2 (Buzau-Vadul Pasii and Vadul Pasii-Râmnicu Sarat). On this occasion, Sorin Grindeanu made clarifications regarding the road infrastructure works and the challenges faced by the builders.
„When you build a lot – today, as we speak, almost 800 kilometers of highway and expressway are under construction in Romania – when you have so many kilometers under construction, you obviously need large quantities of materials, either that we are talking about construction materials, metal decking. In addition to these works that the Ministry of Transport has, without mentioning the CFR local authorities, who in turn need a lot of construction materials,” Grindeanu declared.
As a result, the Minister of Transport specified that there is a need for government support for the construction materials market, in the perspective of future infrastructure works.
„That is why the Government came with help and will come with help in the future to support this market of construction materials. It is an important thing that we must not neglect, the coming years will require a large volume for construction materials and we have to be careful,” stated Sorin Grindeanu.
By the end of 2024, the leadership of the Ministry of Transport announced that approximately 130 kilometers of the Moldavian Highway will be put into circulation.
