Tens of thousands of packs of contraband cigarettes, discovered by border police hidden in a truck

Over one million contraband cigarettes were discovered following a control carried out by the border police on a truck driven by a citizen from the Republic of Moldova, hidden in a special place arranged in the upper part of the means of transport, the Territorial Border Police Service of the Dolj County informed on Wednesday.

According to the Border Police, on the occasion of their inventory, the total quantity of 1,178,600 cigarettes, respectively 58,930 packs of cigarettes, which had a tax stamp issued by the Republic of Moldova, was found.

The truck and the cigarettes were impounded, and the damage was determined at 1,080,506 RON.
