On November 30, 2025, the Consul General of Romania in Chicago, Lucian Ilie Stanica, and the United Romanians Foundation organized an official reception dedicated to celebrating Romania’s National Day, a moment of joy, unity, and reaffirmation of the strong ties between Romania and the Romanian community in the Midwestern United States.

• The event, held at the Chateau Ritz, brought together over 500 guests, including American officials, members of the Consular Corps in Chicago, leaders of the Romanian community, representatives of the business and religious communities, as well as numerous friends of Romania.

The Consulate General of Romania was pleased to have as guests of honor Mr. Diego Morales, Secretary of State of Indiana, Ms. Nettie Lasko, from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Daniel Către, Honorary Consul of Romania in Indiana, and Mr. Nicolai Ianoș, Honorary Consul of Romania in Michigan.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Suceava, led by Deputy Mayor Daniel Ungarian, consisting of local councillors, directors of public institutions in Suceava, representatives of NGOs and numerous business people. The delegation is in the United States for the signing of the twinning agreement between the cities of Suceava and Lansing (Michigan).

We would like to thank everyone for attending and for their desire to celebrate Romanian culture, identity, and values together.

We would also like to thank the guest artists, who provided exceptional musical moments and created an atmosphere full of energy, emotion, and authenticity.

Congratulations to the dance ensemble who delighted the audience with their performance of traditional Romanian dances, bringing the beauty of Romanian folklore and traditions back into our hearts.
