The General Mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, announced on Monday that the works for the modernization of the district heating system with non-reimbursable European funding are progressing, with the goal set for 2024 being the replacement of 70 km of pipes.

„If last year we changed 50 km of pipes, this year’s set goal is 70 km of modernized pipes,” Nicusor Dan wrote on Facebook.

The main pipes have already been replaced over a length of 25.5 km on the 11 construction sites opened under the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM) in all six districts of the capital, and at the same time the heating network is also being modernized through construction sites opened with funding from the local budget and co-funding from the Ministry of Development, Nicusor Dan further said.
