Government spokesman Mihai Constantin said on Wednesday that the total amount needed to prepare, organise and conduct this year’s Romanian presidential elections in good conditions is estimated at 1.39 billion RON.

„Three Government decisions have been adopted today, which set out in detail the calendar of electoral actions, technical measures and expenses for the preparation, organisation and conduct of the elections for the President of Romania on November 24, 2024 – first round, and December 8 – second round. (…) The total amount necessary for the preparation, organisation and conduct in good conditions of the 2024 elections for the Romanian President is estimated at 1.39 billion RON,” Constantin told a press conference at the Victoria Palace of Government.
He mentioned that September 24 is the deadline by which voters who wish to vote abroad must register in the electoral register as a voter abroad, through the online form on the website of the Permanent Electoral Authority.
„October 5 is the deadline for submitting candidacies and electoral signs to the Central Electoral Office. (…) October 25 – the beginning of the electoral campaign, November 23, 07:00 – the end of the electoral campaign. (…) November 22, between 12:00 and 21:00 is the first day of voting abroad, November 23 – the second day of voting abroad – voting begins on the second day at 07:00 local time and ends at 21:00. November 24 is voting day at home – voting starts at 07:00 and closes at 21.00,” Constantin added.
On November 29, the public will be informed about the two candidates who will take part in the second round of the elections, and the campaign for the runoff election will start on the same day. On December 7, at 07:00, the nationwide election campaign ends and December 8 is voting day for the second round. Voting will take place between 07:00 and 21:00, Constantin said.
