Turnover in trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles increased in the first four months of this year, both as unadjusted series by 5.5% and expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted series, by 4.1%, according to a press release from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The increase in the unadjusted series was driven by higher turnover in trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+18.4%), trade in motor vehicle parts and accessories (+14.2%) and trade in motor vehicles (+5.7%). However, motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities decreased by 15.8%.
In April 2024, turnover in trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles increased compared to March 2024, on an unadjusted basis, by 7.5%, due to positive results in: trade in motor vehicles (+9.5%), trade in motorcycles and related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+8.1%), maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+6.8%) and trade in parts and accessories of motor vehicles (+3.4%).
Total turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles as work-day and seasonally adjusted series in April 2024 compared to the previous month increased by 7.8%.
Also, in April this year, compared to the similar interval in 2023, total turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted series, increased by 19.3%, due to trade in parts and accessories of motor vehicles (+31.4%), trade in motor vehicles (+18.7%) and trade in motorcycles, parts and accessories thereof; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+10.6%). On the other hand, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles decreased by 3.2%.
At the same time, total turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as work-day and seasonally adjusted series, increased by 11.4% year-on-year.
