The number of companies and authorized natural persons (PFA) that entered insolvency in the first 11 months of this year was 7,294, an increase of 19.95% compared to the similar period in 2023, when 6,081 insolvencies were registered, according to data published on the website of the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The most companies and PFAs that entered insolvency, between January 1 and November 30, 2024, were registered in Bucharest, respectively 1,334, a number that increased by 12.38% compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
The following places in the insolvencies hierarchy are the counties of Bihor, with 581 insolvencies (plus 9.83%), Cluj – 507 (plus 41.23%), Timis – 438 (plus 46%), Iasi – 300 (plus 23.46%), Ilfov – 270 (plus 33%) and Brasov – 250 (plus 66.67%).
The fewest insolvencies were recorded in the counties of Covasna – 28 (up 33.33%), Harghita – 34 (up 21.43%), Vaslui – 39 (down 4.88%), Mehedinti – 44 (up 25.71%), Tulcea – 51 (down 25%) and Botosani – 53 (up 70.97%).
By activity area, the highest number of insolvencies was recorded in wholesale trade, retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 1,909 (up 17.12% compared to the first 11 months of 2023), constructions – 1,504 (up 24.5%), in the manufacturing industry – 8,551 (up 7.18%), transport and storage – 774 (up 21.7%) and hotels and restaurants – 559 (up 22.86%).
In November 2024, 621 insolvencies were recorded, most in Bucharest (140), Cluj (64), Bihor (41), Iasi (28), Arad (24), Timis and Brasov (21 each).
