Ukraine needs our help more than ever, according to national leader of the Save Romania Union (USR) Elena Lasconi.
„Exactly three years ago, people like you and me woke up, in their beds, to the announcement that changed their lives forever: Putin’s Russia was invading Ukraine. The world changed then, and unfortunately, three years later it became neither better nor fairer. But I am sure of one thing: Ukraine needs our help more than ever. Any help given to Ukraine is a help that we give to ourselves, those who love democracy and life in freedom,” Lasconi wrote in a social media post on Monday.
According to her, Europe must get itself together quickly, support Ukraine and speak with one voice, loud and clear.
„Europe is our home and a criminal like Putin cannot be allowed to play with our lives as he pleases. Romania must also stand straight, not subserviently, understand the role it plays in the history of this continent. We need strong, courageous leaders, who regardless of criticism and costs, understand that they must stand on the right side of history. We need leaders who do justice and who show seriousness in a difficult moment,” Lasconi also wrote.
Russia’s full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, after President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine to defend separatists in the east of the country in a televised statement shortly before 03:00hrs GMT. Russia launched a large-scale offensive on Ukraine on the morning of February 24, with missile attacks on Ukrainian military infrastructure, followed by a ground offensive on several fronts.
