Last week, Border Police teams carried out more than 33,000 checks in the eDAC application, and during the checks carried out at airports they discovered several citizens who tried to leave the country, although they did not meet the legal requirements.
The General Inspectorate of Border Police informs in a press release that in the week of 17-23.06.2024 border police officers carried out over 33,000 checks in the eDAC application to establish the validity of travel conditions and travel documents of persons and were detected unaccompanied minors or without supporting documents, but also Romanian citizens, adults, who had annulled travel documents.
In all cases, the persons’ trip was interrupted and legal measures were taken.
Thus, on 19.06.2024, a mixed patrol, consisting of a border police officer and a police officer from the Air Transport Police Office of the Craiova Airport Border Crossing Point, checked a young man who intended to travel to Italy, Rome. As he was unaccompanied, the officers asked for his ID and found out that he was a minor under the age of 16.
A similar situation was also found at the Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest, where an unaccompanied minor was detected near a gate where passengers were boarding a flight to Frankfurt.
Another situation was found by the border police officers at Iasi Airport, who checked a female Romanian citizen who was accompanying her minor daughter and who wanted to travel to Charleroi – Belgium. Following the checks carried out, it was found that the mother did not have the necessary documents to leave Romania with the minor, and their journey was interrupted.
On June 22, Border Police patrols from the Henri Coanda Bucharest International Airport carrying out checks in the Schengen terminal area, requested the ID of three Romanian citizens who intended to travel to Hamburg and Rome. Following the checks made in the eDAC application database, it was found that the documents presented by them were invalid.
The police retained the documents in question, and because the persons did not present other valid travel documents, they were not allowed to leave the country.

The General Inspectorate of Border Police reminds that since the integration into the Schengen area with air and sea borders, border police officers, together with colleagues from the police, immigration and gendarmerie, carry out specific and unannounced checks in airports and ports to verify the identity and legal status of persons, but also to prevent and combat possible illegal deeds.
Mobile devices using the eDAC application connected to the relevant databases of the Romanian and Schengen Area authorities are used for efficiency.
