The unemployment rate registered at the national level at the end of January 2025 was 3.38%, with the total number of unemployed being 269,165 people, informs the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).
In December 2024, the unemployment rate at the national level was 3.28%.
Of the total registered unemployed, 60,507 were unemployed with benefits and 208,658 without. The number of unemployed with benefits increased by 2,383 people, while the number of unemployed without benefits increased by 5,434 people compared to the previous month.
By area of residence, 72,014 unemployed people come from urban areas and 197,151 unemployed people are from rural areas.
The number of unemployed women on January 31, 2025 was 125,311 people, while the number of unemployed men was 143,854 people.
Most unemployed people were between 40 and 49 years old (68,373), followed by those over 55 years old (60,780), at the opposite end being people between 25 and 29 years old (15,422).
As to the structure of unemployment by level of education, unemployed people without education and those with primary education have a significant share in the total number of unemployed people registered in the records of the National Employment Agency (31.40%). Unemployed people with a secondary education level represent 33.69% of the total registered unemployed, and those with university degrees – 4.45%.
