The unemployment rate for February 2025 stood at 5.6%, in seasonally adjusted form, up 0.1 percent against the figure recorded in January 2025, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The number of unemployed people (aged 15-74) estimated for February 2025 was 456,800 people, up from the previous month (450,900 people), but also from the same period of the previous year (436,300 people).
By gender, the unemployment rate for men exceeded that of women by 0.4 percentage points, the values being 5.7% for men and 5.3% for women.
The INS mentions that the high level of 26.3% of the unemployment rate among young people (15-24 years old), recorded between October and December 2024, remains.
For adults (25-74 years old), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.3% for February 2025 (4.4% for men and 4.1% for women). The number of unemployed people aged 25-74 represents 72.5% of the total number of unemployed people estimated for February 2025.
