Two incumbent MEPs, eight MPs, a former minister, a former senior official, a mayor and a deputy mayor are among the candidates of the United Right Alliance made up of the Save Romania Union (USR), People’s Movement Party (PMP) and the Right Force, vying for a seat in the European Parliament in the June 9 election.
The list comprises 23 candidates picked by USR, 10 by PMP and 10 by the Right Force.
The United Right Alliance submitted 43 candidates to the Central Electoral Bureau, with the complete list being topped by Sibiu MP Dan Barna, former Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu and MEP Eugen Tomac, the PMP national leader.
Next on the list are USR MEP Vlad Botos, USR MP Cristina Pruna, MP Violeta Alexandru (Right Force), former Minister of Labour in the Orban Government and Senator Radu Mihai Mihail (USR).
In the race for a seat in Brussels, Corina Atanasiu (USR), former senior official with the Ministry of European Investment and Projects, is also included on the list of the alliance, being followed by Adriana Cristian (USR) – IT project manager, Ionut Simionca (PMP) – former MP, and MP Ionel Danca (Right Force).
The United Right Alliance has filed 15 women for the race for a seat in Brussels.
On the ballot papers for the election to the European Parliament, the alliance is sixth.
Romania has 33 seats to fill in the European Parliament.
