Uptake of European funds exceeds 90% of allocated funds, National Liberal Party head’s Ciuca says

The uptake level of European funds has exceeded 90% of the allocated funds, the president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Nicolae Ciuca said on Friday in Botosani.

According to him, the attraction of foreign investments and the uptake of European funds reached the record level during the period when the PNL was in power.

„The liberals are the ones who managed, in 2022, to achieve the largest uptake of foreign investments in our history, over 10 million euros. The liberals achieved the largest absorption of European funds, of 11.3 billion euros, an approach that allowed us, for the first time after 17 years, to reach an uptake level of European funds of over 90%. When we took over the government, in 2021, we were below 59%, well below 50% . We handed over the power in the middle of 2023 at 77%. Today, we closed the year 2023 with over 90%. The conditions are created to be able to continue to have an absorption of European funds, because we are talking about more than 70 billion euros which they are still at our disposal, and this money, if we don’t spend it wisely and wisely, we will lose it and we will never have this opportunity again”, stated Ciuca.

Referring to government funds, the liberal leader emphasized that PNL contributed to the allocation of 120 billion RON for investments.

„It is the first time that Romania has from its own budget investments of over 120 billion RON, respectively 24 billion euros, this under the conditions in which the liberal government, for the first time in 2022, managed to have a healthy economic growth”, Ciuca added.

Nicolae Ciuca participated on Friday, in Botosani, at the launch of the PNL candidates for the local elections.
