USR to file its own lists for next elections

Published on

Save Romania Union (USR) national leader Elena Lasconi says that USR will run on its own ticket in the next elections.

A USR leadership team discussed with representatives of right leaning parties in recent weeks to forge an alliance, but the demands presented by the other parties were „unreasonable and impossible to put into practice”, according to a USR press release issued on Friday.

„The purpose of the negotiations was to offer an alternative to Romanians, so that Romania would be led by a right leaning president and a right leaning government, which would make reforms. Otherwise, Romania risks remaining under a toxic coalition, which annually increases taxes on citizens. The demands presented by the representatives of the other parties were unreasonable and impossible to put into practice,” according to USR.

USR will go „with its engines revved up to the maximum” in the next elections and will run by its own forces.

„I will do everything in my power so that Romania does not continue for ten years in the direction of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), that is, in the direction of corruption, nepotism, combinations and governance for some, to the detriment of all. We are running by our own strength, determined and courageous. We are running under the USR logo in the presidential and parliamentary elections,” said Lasconi.

USR says Elena Lasconi is „the best ranked right leaning candidate” in the presidential elections, according to recent polls, „so she would be the only one to defeat the PSD candidates” in these elections. ” More right leaning candidates competing in the presidential election will only help PSD candidates,” USR also says.
