The National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development (INCDFP) revised the magnitude of the earthquake that occurred on Monday morning at 10:14 AM in Vrancea County, in the Vrancea seismic zone, from 4 degrees on the Richter scale to 3.9.
Additionally, the depth at which the earthquake occurred was revised from 140 km to 129 km.
According to the new data published by INCDFP, the earthquake took place near the following cities: 37 kilometres west of Focsani, 62 km north of Buzau, 73 km east of Sfantu Gheorghe, 85 km east of Brasov, 95 km southwest of Barlad, 97 km south of Bacau and 99 km northeast of Ploiesti.
Since the beginning of March, 24 earthquakes with magnitudes between 2 and 3.9 have been recorded in Romania.
The strongest earthquake of 2024, with a magnitude of 5.4, occurred in Buzau County on September 16.
