Interim President Ilie Bolojan sent a message on Thursday to the Annual General Meeting of the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham) in which he pointed out that Romania has accumulated significant deficits and that they need to be corrected in the coming years by reducing budget expenditures, collecting revenues to the state budget, combating tax evasion and accessing European funds to ensure investments and development.
„In terms of internal economic stability, it is a period in which we have accumulated significant deficits as a country and we need to correct them in the coming years by reducing budget expenditures, by collecting revenues to the state budget, by combating tax evasion, by accessing European funds to ensure investments and development. A government does not change a country, but it creates conditions for the companies in that country, for the people in that country to change things. And I hope that we will do everything possible to create a good context, so that you, the investors, have the best possible conditions for investments and good business in Romania in the coming years,” Bolojan said, according to the Presidential Administration.
He said that we are in a complicated period, but for Romania a few things are as clear as can be, namely that it remains a pro-European and pro-Atlantic country.
„Membership in NATO and the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America meant safety, they meant security, and membership in the European Union meant access to European markets, technology transfer and access to European funds that have changed the face of our country in many places. These directions are convergent and we will continue to support them”, declared Bolojan.
The interim president thanked for the investments that American business people have made in Romania.
„The over 200,000 jobs and the billions of dollars invested in our country mean taxes and duties transferred to the state budget, it means technology transfer, it means access to markets and it means prosperity for the Romanian economy. Every investment made in Romania means an increase in quality and prosperity for the citizens of our country and I thank you for what you have done in these years and from this point of view”, said the interim president.
