Wholesale turnover seasonally adjusted, down 2.2pct in 11 months into 2024

Wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, in Romania decreased in the first 11 months of 2024 y-o-y by 2.2%, seasonally adjusted, data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) show.

Unadjusted, wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, decreased as a result of the decrease in wholesale agricultural materials and live animals (-25%), wholesale of consumer goods other than food (-6.4%) and wholesale intermediaries (-4.8%). Increases were recorded in non-specialised wholesale trade (+15.3%), wholesale of information and communication equipment (+9.5%), specialised wholesale of other products (+6.1%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+1.1%). The wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies remained at the same level.

According to the INS, the November 2024 wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, decreased overall by 3.8% on a monthly basis as a result of decrease in wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (-13.2%), specialised wholesale of other products (-12.2%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-4.3%) and wholesale of consumer goods other than food (-0.3%). Increases were recorded in wholesale of information and communication equipment (+4.8%), wholesale intermediation activities (+2.3%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+1.9%) and non-specialized wholesale (+1.0%).

Seasonally adjusted, it increased overall by 1.6% on a monthly basis.

Y-o-y, the November 2024 wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted decreased overall by 4.1%, as a result of a decrease in wholesale trade in raw agricultural products and live animals (-45.2%), wholesale trade in consumer goods, other than food (-4.0%) and wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-2.0%). Increases were recorded in non-specialised wholesale (+17.9%), wholesale of information and communication equipment (+16.6%), wholesale intermediaries (+5.4%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+2.6%) and specialised wholesale of other products (+1.7%).

Seasonally adjusted, it decreased by 5.3% overall.
