The Political Committee of the Save Romania Union (USR) has decided to officially support independent candidate Nicusor Dan in the presidential runoff, with the USR affirming that it stands with all the citizens who want an „honest, European and responsibly led” Romania, a release informs on Monday.

„The USR stands united behind Nicusor Dan. USR is and will remain a party of democratic values, competence and decency in politics. Nicusor Dan is a man who has proven his integrity and ability to build. It is time for us to join forces to stop the isolationists in their tracks and to bring state institutions back to normalcy. That is why the USR will support him in the second round of the presidential election,” USR interim Chairman Dominic Fritz declared.

The USR Political Committee meeting brought together 242 people – members of the National Bureau, presidents of county branches, lawmakers, mayors and council leaders – who examined and defined the directions of action for the coming period, the cited source mentions.
