Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5% in March 2025, down 0.1% year-on-year, according to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Male unemployment was 0.2% higher than female unemployment.
The number of unemployed (aged 15-74) estimated for March 2025 was 453,100 people, down from the previous month (456,800 people) and up from the same period of the previous year (439,100 people).
By gender, male unemployment rate was 0.2% higher than female unemployment, 5.6% to 5.4%.
A high level of 26.3% of youth unemployment (15-24 years old), recorded between October and December 2024, continues to draw attention.
For adults (25-74 years old), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.3% in March 2025, 4.4% for men and 4.2% for women.
The number of unemployed aged 25-74 years makes up 73.2% of the total number of unemployed estimated for March 2025.
